For our 2nd year Jeff and I put up what we are now calling Third Terror Street (we live on 3rd Terrace so I figured it was appropriate). Basically, its a ongoing Worlds of Fun graveyard, both for rides and old General Managers, all in fun of course.
Starting out in late afternoon, finishing the set up. A little bit about the black fences, created entirely by Jeff and myself (mostly Jeff in this case) from raw materials. The horizonal rails are wood rails with holes drilled in them. The vertical "slates" are PVC pipe. The entire fence piece when assembled was spray painted black.
Lee Derough lies in repose. The tombstone reads "Lee Derough: He sold the park out from under its feet and now he lies six feet deep" Our tomb stones are pink insulation foam, carved with a hand dremel tool, and painted with gray laytex paint. The aging is done with watered down black craft paint.
The entire graveyard. You can see our friend Keller hanging in a steel cage. The steel cage was hand beaten by Jeff from steel flat rail. The post is a wooden mailbox post lengthened with a fence post. The skeleton is one of the few things that we bought as is.
At night, the scarecrow. The pumpkin head is foam, hand painted with black craft paint, the "body" is crinkle cotton dyed a scarlet red, and sewn and tored to look old. The entire structure is PVC pipe. Dead grass provided by the neighbor that moved out four months ago and his yard has yet to be mowed!
The graveyard at night, all tombstones again are pink insulation foam, carved and painted. The front tombstone is for the Barnstormer ride. Behind it to the left is The Safari and to the right is the 9th Street Incline. Behind that are Wing Ding, Sky Hi, Incred-O-Dome, Ski Heis and in the very back Wobble Wheel (leaning to the right).
A overall view, lighting is provided by blue and red bulbs.
A side view with Wobble Wheel tombstone, crosses and coffin. |
